Let us show you Maranza and Val Pusteria

Mountain passion Mountain passion

Nature is our passion – summer and winter. Even we “natives” are sometimes struck speechless as we watch the Val Pusteria mountains radiantly retire into their winter rest: alpine pastures covered in snow, the Dolomites pale and seemingly remote, the way innumerable legends describe them. Only the green shades of conifers stand out against the white background, the skies are clear, the air is pure and bracing.

Winter on the Gitschberg Winter on the Gitschberg

As soon as winter announces itself in Maranza, people get out their boots and skies, clean them, wax them and sharpen their edges. The sun-spoiled Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing area teems with laid-back activity. The slopes are well maintained and authentic ski lodges welcome those who seek genuine rustic pleasure.

Lantern trip Lantern trip

As the winter season opens, Horst and Elke invite their guests once a week to explore selected skiing areas of the Dolomiti Superski or the racy pistes of the world-renowned Sella Ronda. Weekly snowshoe tours cater for your wellbeing as you tone your muscles in the wide open spaces, passing through woods covered in deep snow, enjoying the peace and quiet, the gorgeous panoramas and the intimate communion with nature. Want more action? Our fun toboggan rides are the answer. And once a week the winter day ends with a romantic lantern walk guided by Ms Peintner.

Winter walk Winter walk

Those who shirk skis and such will also savour the beauty of Maranza’s winter fairyland: well-maintained hiking trails and welcoming mountain lodges lie in wait for them. We keep a stock of sports equipment from which you may borrow what you need free of charge – walking sticks, snowshoes, luges and toboggans… And we will be glad to tell you about the most beautiful routes and toboggan runs in the area.
