From early December to the Easter season snow abounds in the Gitschberg/Jochtal area where no fewer than 16 cable railways and ski lifts give access to 44 kilometres of skiing slopes. The modern 8-person cable railway to the skiing area of Maranza Gitschberg starts just 300 m away from our hotel. At an altitude of 2500 m skiing and snowboarding are at their best – peace reigns far away from the hectic hustle and bustle of ski lifts, and even seasoned skiers and boarders will stop, take a deep breath and marvel at the thrilling panorama of the Dolomites that inspires a feeling of limitless freedom.

No walking uphill and down in heavy ski boots. No need to carry your skis to the lift in the morning. The free ski depot at the valley station of the Gitschberg gondola lift is our special new plus for you. Put on your comfortably warmed ski boots and pick up your equipment for an active day on the ski slopes.

NEW - Connecting Cable Car Gitschberg Jochtal 2011 / 2012

Neighbouring Jochtal/Valles is an ideal skiing area for beginners and families. A new cable railway connects Gitschberg with Valles, where many a toddler on skis has learnt to master the early steps to skiing fun. The practice slopes are exactly what families need for all-family fun. If you haven’t brought your skis or want to try out another brand or length you’ll find ski rental shops in both the Maranza/Gitschberg and Jochta/lValles areas. And professionally managed winter sports schools provide for a variety of skiing and snowboarding courses catering for all grades of proficiency.
